Introduction
Closet, previously Ramanagara, is a small town on Bangalore’s outskirts. Bangalore, the state capital of Karnataka, is about 50 kilometres away from Ramanagara. The district (also known as Ramagiri) was recently founded from the Bangalore rural district, and the town’s name originates from the nearby Ramagiri Hills.
Massive granite slabs from the lower Proterozoic age are a distinctive geological feature of this area. The fact that Ramanagara is a movie star astounds many people. It is well-known for serving as the backdrop for the Bollywood film ‘Sholay.’ This was not, however, the only film shot in the area. The Ramanagara Silk Cocoon Market, located in Ijoor, Ramanagara district, 40 kilometres from Bangalore, is one of Asia’s largest cocoon markets. This market sells over 50,000 kg of freshly cultivated cocoons every day. Traditional silk artwork may be found in abundance at the cocoon market, which spans two acres. Visitors can also go on a tour of the local silk industries or take a stroll around the market to see the cocoon merchants. There is no admission price to the Ramanagara Silk Cocoon Market, which is open all day.
Mekedatu Biking and Trekking
Mekedatu (which means ‘goat’s leap’ in Kannada) is a great destination for those looking to get away from the concrete jungles. It is located in Kanakapura, Ramanagara district, about 100 km from Bangalore.
The Cauvery or Kaveri river flows through a narrow (about 10 m wide) and steep gorge after joining with the Arkavati river. In addition to being a terrific destination for nature lovers, Mekedatu has an intriguing mythology behind its name. According to legend, a goat (make) disguised as Shiva leapt. Ramadevara Betta Vulture Sanctuary Birdwatching
The Ramadevara Betta Vulture Sanctuary is located near the Sri Pattabhi Rama Temple on top of the Ramadevara Betta. This is a must-see attraction in Ramanagara. Three of India’s nine vulture species can be seen in their natural environment here. Unfortunately, many species are on the edge of extinction. The white-backed, long-billed, and Egyptian vultures have been roosting. In the Ramanagara betta for decades, despite the vulture sanctuary’s construction in 2012.
Sri Revanna Siddeshwara Betta Rappelling
The SRS Hills, also known as Sri Revanna Siddeshwara Betta. Is around 64 kilometers from Bangalore and 13 kilometers from Ramanagara town. It is well-known for its rock climbing areas, as well as other activities such as rappelling, kayaking, and rain dance.
